When I was in High School I had class mates who died as a result of traffic accidents, as did my siblings. It always seemed to happen in the Spring…maybe it’s a symptom of Spring Fever among teens. Driving a bit too fast, experimenting with alcohol, being out having fun a bit more often, not believing that cell phone usage and text messaging while driving is a bad thing.
Yeah, I used a dramatic headline … to get your attention, but those 37 deaths in one High School did happen through this extremely thought provoking “scared straight” event at a High School.
This is a great idea and I applaud the officers, school system and parents who allowed it to happen. No doubt it will be effective for teens! And maybe more teens will be spared from the memories of classmates dying as a result of Spring Fever.
