If you have read my last few posts you may have noticed a common thread.

Never underestimate the feeling of loss when your first child goes off to college. And this from a mom who is by nature ridiculously energetic and joyful. Ask anyone who knows me … or anyone who sees me walking down the grocery store aisles.
Skip-a-dee-doo-da-day!
Suffice it to say God worked the pitiful out of me.
This morning as I was jogging (and sweating profusely) I took a sip of water and swirled it around in my mouth and spit. It was just “funky” all up in there. Now far be it from me to use that as an illustration about God …well, actually that’s exactly what I am going to do.
Somehow in my warped brain (because God can turn any of my experiences into a life lesson) I realized I needed to clean my “funky thoughts” out of my head – and I did. I washed it clean with a good ole outpouring to God and He swished His hope and love all around my head and my heart and I spit out the funky.
Moral of the story: When you are in a funk Holy Spit matters!
(For those of you who are offended … calm down, this really is how He spoke to me today and maybe He speaks to you more politely, but I gladly and gratefully receive help how ever He chooses to do it!)

That’s so funny! Having gone through this eight years ago, with my first, it’s just not easy, is it? It’s healthy, and it’s necessary, and it’s part of life, and all the things that everybody says, and it arrives, and it’s not fun. At least, not as much fun for me as it appeared to be for her! You’ve been an awesome mom, Tracey, an amazing encourager, and now, you will be an even more blazingly brilliant mentor!

You know what this made me think of?
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”
Gotta renew that mind with some washing with water through the Word! 🙂
