Last month I was asked to be a part of the 31 Days of Prayer over at Family Matters Blog and I was blessed and happy to be a part of their prayer focus.
Prayer is so very important moms. Several months ago over at MomLife Today we began sharing daily Mom Prayers and to date, that seems to be one of the moms favorite offerings we provide to them.
Oh, how necessary it is to pray for our precious children.
I found it most interesting that the “random” subject Karis at Family Matters gave me to focus on was discipline. Really?
If you have read Be The Mom you might recall I used to pray for the desire to {exercise, read God’s word, pray, have joy, be patient, have energy} yeah – I have prayed for the desire for many things. God quietly spoke to my heart one day and pointed out that I did not lack desire because He heard about my desire to _________ {pick one of the above} constantly…what I lacked was discipline.
Isn’t that just like God to once again pull back in front of me the importance of discipline.
Brick MOMent!
I suppose that’s why the written word is so powerful. There is nothing new under the sun, but we have to keep hearing things over and over from voices we trust, voices God graciously places in our path so He can continue the work He is doing in us. Thanks Karis, for unknowingly being used by God in my life for a gentle reminder.
Below is the prayer I shared, to read the entire post head on over to Family Matters – you will probably enjoy the entire 31 days they have for you there!
“Father God, thank you for the gift of parenthood, for trusting me with your image bearers. Guide me daily and give me the discipline to study your word, make time for relationship with you, and actively, purposefully teach my children how their lives can be used to glorify you in word and deed. When I am weary give me strength and a disciplined commitment to my children.”
