Snowmageddon!

So all day today I had meetings...important stuff regarding MomLife Today, upcoming video interviews, various events, future plans - including an amazingly fantastical mom conference we are planning. But here's the thing, all I could really think about was the grocery list in my purse and how I needed to get to the store to buy snow day supplies before Snowmageddon hits tomorrow! It was entertaining how throughout the day the forecast was … [Read more...]

MOMzilla Speaks!

My daughter is one amazing girl. Better than I will ever be. Maybe her wonderfulness is due partly because of me...but I suspect it's mostly in spite of me. That's the wonderful blessing of being a mom - if you do it right. Day in and day out dealings with my growing children cause me to really see myself. It's almost as if those little souls daily hold up mirrors that expose worse than deepening wrinkles and graying hair - those mirrors … [Read more...]

Annoying Habit or Family Trait?

My teenage daughter has long teased me about my ongoing habit of randomly singing (quite loudly) whenever I am off by myself somewhere in our home. I am talking loud and enthusiastic (with umph) kinda singing… I am totally into this singing thing, kinda singing. No, I do not have a particularly melodic voice, but that does not stop me from belting out the tunes. This habit has been with me since I was a young professional, I recall the … [Read more...]

Help for Moms Who Wanna Have Fun

Part of my m.o. is that I am a mom who likes to have fun with my kids. Now it wasn't always this way mind you, I went through my exhausted who has time for fun stage, but God snapped me out of that and I have never looked back. I realize that not all moms are naturally inclined for fun - that's why I wrote a post over at MomLife Today with a few tips for funness! Listed below are the ten suggestions for fun I challenged moms to try - I hope … [Read more...]

Simple Day…

My day has been ordinary. My day has been extraordinary...because I shared it with my family through conversation, laughter and knowing glances that reflected love and care. These family MOMents exist daily, but sadly I don't always notice them...or appreciate them. As I contemplate the absence of "mom" in the home of Gabrielle Giffords I realize the ordinariness of every day should be welcomed. As I read the posts of a beloved husband, … [Read more...]

Hug Me

I am most pleased that illness eluded our family over the CHRISTmas break! Woo Hoo! Much healthy fun occurred including sleep overs, dance parties, movie nights, dinner w/friends here, dinner w/friends at their home, bon fires, singing, game playing, hiking, comedy night, baking, cooking, crafting...we did a bit of everything. This week, school started up for my teens, I went in to substitute teach and BAM I came down with a bear of a cold. … [Read more...]

Texting and Driving Do Not Mix

Usually Monday is Music Monday here...however today I am posting this documentary because there is an epidemic of teens (and adults) texting while driving... and it is leading to tragedy. I implore you to have a conversation with your teen (and yourself) and resolve a text free car commitment for 2011 - that's a resolution worth keeping. It takes a little time to watch this AT&T Texting While Driving Documentary...but it's worth it. … [Read more...]

No Social Media Zone

I hope you have a very blessed CHRISTmas and I trust you will take time to be with the Lord and make awesome memories with your family and friends...I know I will. FamilyLife closes it's offices between CHRISTmas and theNew Year to allow families time to connect. As I am focusing on my relationships, at this special time of year, I will be having a no social media zone until after the first of the year - might I suggest you do the … [Read more...]
