At least that's how it feels! At this very MOMent I am sitting in my daughter's dorm room, on her bed to be exact. I am experiencing a VERY surreal flash back in time to when I was sitting on my own dorm room bed. (Many, many years ago...yes, two many's!) Familiar sounds of voices down the hallway, the creek of a bathroom door opening exposing shower sound echoes and hair dryer whirring and the shuffling of flip flops. Neighboring female … [Read more...]
Stay The Course?
When your first born goes off to college there are so very many challenges. Letting go, trusting God, an empty bedroom, a smaller ketchup bottle, no more long brown hair stuck in the vacuum cleaner brush, one less place setting, a sad cat, less conversation - I could make a lengthy list. I could cry me a river too. But I choose not to - I have spent the last 19 years training her for this time in her life and quite frankly, she is ready. She … [Read more...]
Roof Crashers
There are times in my momlife where I sit in amazement of who my children are becoming. He sheepishly walked in from Echo - the Wednesday night youth gathering at our church - and as he looked up at me I could see emotion in his face. He grinned slightly and averted his eyes. My mom senses picked up on something...something big. "Are you OK?" I inquired. "Yeah...well...it was a really good night," he offered. "Have you been … [Read more...]
Peace On Blog
The last few weeks have left me drawing ever closer to my Heavenly Father as I sort out His call on my life and how I remain in Him, love my family and friends...and reach out to others through social media. As a result...for the next month I am choosing to only post something here if it is something I feel directly led to post and I am compelled to sit down and write. I have been concentrating on my friends and family I can see and touch, … [Read more...]
Boys, Moms & Messy
Boys...you gotta love em - cause they keep you on your toes! They also keep you in your laundry room and kitchen! Especially the kitchen because giving them good grub keeps them coming back to your home. Which trust me, is a good thing. I learned from a mom older and wiser than me years ago that if I wanted to know where my son was and what he was doing I best make my home a welcome place for him and his friends. Great advice, that I heeded … [Read more...]
Solitude MOMents
Sunset loveliness on my evening stroll, magnificent color all around me with the changing leaves, ...kissed by the light breeze... caught a lazy oak leaf as it twirled to the ground... stroked the growing fuzzy winter coats on my horses as they munched hay... God's gracious simple blessings for my sweet MOMents of solitude received with gratitude! If you have not slowed down ... I encourage you to do so... Life "out there" … [Read more...]
Teenage Boy Fest
Well, I did it again – I filled my home with about a dozen teen boys for the better part of a weekend! Some of my friends think I’m a bit nuts when I choose to invite droves of teenagers over. They don’t quite get why I would choose to fill my home with all the noise, the eating, the shoving, the laughter, the dirt, the smells, the in and out. They ask, “Isn’t it just too much trouble?” Yeah...it is a bit of pain, but the rewards outweigh … [Read more...]

Book Title Decided
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I always knew the working title I had for my book would not remain the title as it didn't really reveal what the book was truly about. Well - Tyndale and Focus on the Family who are working together on my book project have agreed to the Title I suggested...with a bit of an add on in their subtitle. Drum roll please... The title of my book to be released in August of 2012 is... Be The Mom Subtitle: … [Read more...]
Random Stuff & Happy Anniversary To Me
I feel loved by God fully, completely and am grateful for His unmerited goodness! Thank you for your prayers for my horse Dot! She is doing amazingly well!
