Today I was blessed with the opportunity to share my “Why I blog…and why I think you should blog!” story with the local chapter of American Christian Writers.
Once again I was struck by the goodness of God and His ability to use “regular” people, like me, to talk into the lives of others and encourage. As I shared my story of why I am involved with social media and why I feel it is such a great mission field for other Christian writers I found I was encouraging myself through my own words!
God refreshed me anew with the realization that what I do is in obedience to Him. Sure I write because I like to and because it brings me joy, but I also write because God compels me to and I have the honor of letting His light shine through my experiences that are written to encourage and inform others. (Yeah…even when the post is labeled random or snarky…God gave me that little “spicey” side too!)
However, after my visiting with this group of American Christian Writers I realized lately, much of my time has been spent in the “doing” of social media behind the scenes duties. Working with the writers on MomLife Today and the team of moms who tirelessly give time to make things happen has taken priority the last couple of months. I have gotten away from my first love, the actual writing…and I miss it!
You know we all have a habit of making time for that which matters most to us. I was convicted, that it was time to make some time…I just pulled out my calendar and literally blocked out some time for writing. I marked out a week where I will not go into the office and I will not be involved with “busy-ness” while my children are at school. Instead…I will write.
I am very much looking forward to this time set aside to do what fills me up…and what I feel I was made to do!
Won’t you join me…whatever it is that fills you up…check your calendar, set aside some time and make it a priority for you within the next month!
If I can make the time…you can too!
