As you may recall, my daughter started college a few months ago. That has led to changes and a new normal around here. She certainly left a big empty space in our home upon her departure, but God is graciously filling that void. Having the capacity to embrace change, even one so very close to one's heart is a choice - and I am choosing to accept, adapt and grow. I have been counting the days until Thanksgiving and then CHRISTmas so I can … [Read more...]

Boys, Moms & Messy
Boys...you gotta love em - cause they keep you on your toes! They also keep you in your laundry room and kitchen! Especially the kitchen because giving them good grub keeps them coming back to your home. Which trust me, is a good thing. I learned from a mom older and wiser than me years ago that if I wanted to know where my son was and what he was doing I best make my home a welcome place for him and his friends. Great advice, that I heeded … [Read more...]
Protect Your Children
This whole Penn State thing has had my head reeling. I am at a loss for words. The world has within it such evil - how do we protect our children? My sweet friend Dannah Gresh wrote an extremely helpful post that gives very doable, practical advice on how to discuss personal space safety with your child. It is a hard conversation to have, but a necessary one. I would encourage you to follow the link over to MomLife Today to read, and then … [Read more...]
Health Not Hips
I have always (mostly) tried to live my life making sure that I remain in good health. God gave me this body and I better take care of it if I want to stick around to be a grandmother some day. Which I do! Several years ago I did a Beth Moore Bible study about the tabernacle and that study helped me to realize that my body is God's tabernacle and I need to care for it properly. I cannot do God's work if I am not in the best of health. My … [Read more...]

God's gracious simple blessings for my sweet MOMents of solitude received with gratitude! If you have not slowed down ... I encourage you to do so... Life "out there" … [Read more...]
Teenage Boy Fest
Well, I did it again – I filled my home with about a dozen teen boys for the better part of a weekend! Some of my friends think I’m a bit nuts when I choose to invite droves of teenagers over. They don’t quite get why I would choose to fill my home with all the noise, the eating, the shoving, the laughter, the dirt, the smells, the in and out. They ask, “Isn’t it just too much trouble?” Yeah...it is a bit of pain, but the rewards outweigh … [Read more...]
Thank You Much
I am overwhelmed with gratitude to each of you who have voted for my book cover choices for Be The Mom! How amazing it is to me that so many would take the time to vote and share your thoughts with me! What I can tell you at this point is that the publishers are going back to the drawing board to come up with a combination of the two covers! The editors and marketers were so gracious to hear my thoughts based on all your votes and comments … [Read more...]
