What Have Your Child’s Eyes Seen?

Yesterday over at MomLife Today we ran a post that literally made me gasp - no doubt you will too. It suggests that the average age a child first views pornography is far younger than you might suspect. The fact is, the average age of the first inception of pornography these days is 11. Yep. You read that right. Eleven. As in fifth grade. Last year of elementary school. (And that’s average. Yep, nine year olds are looking at porn.) On this … [Read more...]

New Mom Territory, Instruction Needed

Laughter and revelry fill my warm, cozy home for a few days when we have college guests. Not so much more than when other guests are here. Just sweeter somehow. She was home again. My daughter. My “I’m a freshman in college” daughter. Who is more woman than girl now. Who is more reflective and forward looking now. This is new territory for me. Territory I knew was coming, yet as with any challenging journey no matter how well prepared one … [Read more...]

Church Goers Flashed-Really?

I have been to countless Easter morning services at church through the years, several different churches in fact, as I have moved seven times since becoming married. This year was the first time I saw my husband struggle with where exactly to place his eyes during the walk in and out of the church building. My sixteen year old son was having the same struggle. I used to so enjoy seeing little girls, teens girls and women dressed in their … [Read more...]

Idol Worship Gone Mainstream

Would you fight the crowds to get a glimpse of your favorite star? It certainly seems most Americans would! From Justin Beeber, to Jennifer Lawrence to Tim Tebow, teens, and their parents are all a flutter - and a push and shove away from getting close to their favs! I have been known to do some pushin and shovin myself, for the right personality. It is odd to me that star sightings are now considered “news” and the whereabouts of various … [Read more...]

Little Boy House Guests

Sometimes a simple phrase from a child can make you stop and think. Two sweet, energetic and adorable little boys ages 3 and 5 recently filled our home with giggles and grins. I was meeting their mom for the first time to discuss some “MomLife Today” matters and she had her sons along for the trip. There was no way they needed to be staying in a hotel – so invited them to stay with us. We had discussions under a basketball hoop, … [Read more...]

“Bing” – God Has a Message For You

Reading the word of God truly is like daily unlocking a mystery that is revealed personally to me each day. I don’t know why I am still amazed at how God will speak to me through His word. So much so that I thank Him out loud, and often. If you are not someone who takes time to read and ponder the Bible I want to challenge you to try it for 30 days. Come on, 30 days...isn’t it worth the time and effort to see what God wants to reveal to … [Read more...]

I Am Back In College

At least that's how it feels! At this very MOMent I am sitting in my daughter's dorm room, on her bed to be exact. I am experiencing a VERY surreal flash back in time to when I was sitting on my own dorm room bed. (Many, many years ago...yes, two many's!) Familiar sounds of voices down the hallway, the creek of a bathroom door opening exposing shower sound echoes and hair dryer whirring and the shuffling of flip flops. Neighboring female … [Read more...]

A Mom’s Treasure

"Mom - pay attention to me!" I think my children would love to shout that to me at times. You know the times, the times when we are busy with our own agenda and we push our children off to the side. Not in a mean sort of way, just in an "I'm too busy right now" sort of way.  Either way - it's uncool. Join me over at MomLife Today where I am sharing my take on what it is our children really want from us on any given day!   (And … [Read more...]

Forgive my absence...due to travel maxi-mus time in February I chose to go on hiatus here on the old personal blog and concentrate on family - and ministry over at MomLife Today.  I got a real life lesson in there are only so many hours in a day and has always been my policy, the home front comes first!
