MOB’s, Listen Up!

That little boy of mine, the one that used to beat on the front the door with his tiny little palm and chant, “outside, outside, outside” – yeah that one, he is over six feet tall now. The little dimples that have always winked at me when he smiles, still do. Somehow because he is headed towards manhood, they are even more adorable now than they used to be.  Perched up there above the scraggly beard. One day last week, with his green eyes … [Read more...]

Why I Quit!

I had a plan. I had it all figured out. I knew what I wanted. And I was going for it. That is five I’s. Things are not going as planned. Disappointment. Again. Why? Can you relate? I know you can – because this scenario has repeated itself over and over in my life and no doubt the same is true for you. And then...this morning, I listened to Misty Edwards sing Finally I Surrender.  “All I want is you to have your … [Read more...]

Mom Talk…Talk…Talk!

Guilty. Sometimes in my efforts to "reach and teach" my children - I doth drone on far too lengthy. {british accent included} So much so that recently I heard about it from my sweet son ...My teen son and I had just gone to see a movie together and on the drive home, he suddenly giggled, shook his head and uttered, “Mom, you talk too much.” Ouch. Actually, double ouch because I distinctly remember my teen daughter saying the same thing … [Read more...]

Lice Nightmare

Last night I was minding my own business, happily watching The Office with my son and husband when all of the sudden I broke out into a cold sweat and my heart started racing. I think I may have even been mumbling incoherently - eyes glazed over. I was propelled back in time to a particularly stressful event as a mom, lean in close here - I am going to need to whisper, "it was that time, when my sweet little five year old girl, with the long, … [Read more...]

Family Time

Hey friends, last week we were on a family vacation and during this week of Thanksgiving I am going to continue to stay away from blogging and social media to invest in relationship with those around me. I am filled with a heart of gratitude and praising my Savior. I hope you too are savoring the flavors of food and fellowship! Many blessings to you.   … [Read more...]

Whack Priorities

I am struck by the fact that as humans we have this profound tendency to have our priorities out of whack. News reports show us there are 1,000’s of people struggling right now due to Hurricane Sandy. It appears many, many are lacking basic necessities and are in need of water, food, clothing, warmth and protection from the elements. Many are now homeless and have nothing but the clothes on their backs. Many residents of devastated areas … [Read more...]

Dizzy Mom Exhaustion Phenom

For well over a year I have spent much time trying to determine direction and purpose. Honestly I think that’s something we all do on a continuum, but the tricky part is remaining true to who God has called you to be and living with contentment as you seek. I have to say it is way awesome when I can hear God above all the noise. When I am paying attention He keeps me ever humble if my thoughts and words get me into trouble as I am seeking and … [Read more...]

Heart Attack Mom?

Are there days where you suffer from heart attack? When your attitudes and actions turn to self, rather than God and others? *heavy sigh* I admit, it happens to me. Doldrums Slayer

There are days when I can get sort of down in the dumps. You? Sometimes it is because “the news” is draggin me down and sometimes it is because “my news” is giving me the doldrums. Discussing “the news” with you would just be exhausting and I don’t even want to go there.  But discussing “my news” is something you can probably relate to if you too have some “just life” stuff that can make your days a challenge! You know, the little … [Read more...]
