If you are in need of some serious spiritual refreshment I hope you will consider joining me in Nashville Tennessee on October 23rd and 24th for an amazing time of teaching, praising and seeking the One who loves you like no other! As a matter of fact, how about a "road trip" with some friends! What better reason to gather a group of women than to hear instruction from a dedicated Bible teacher and spend intentional time seeking God! I can … [Read more...]
Best Marriage Advice Ever
Wait for it, it’s coming...keep reading. My daughter just got married. As in last weekend. She has a new name. Here’s the thing – I love her husband...already. Because I know him so well, I have known him for over 21 years. Even though we met in person two years ago. When you pray for someone for 21 years you just know them - the Holy Spirit does that. Mom’s, pray for your child’s future spouse. It matters. I have spent much … [Read more...]
Moms Crave Quiet
When my children were very young, there were two commodities I was in constant need of: "quiet" and "time," that is for daggum sure! It seemed there were not enough hours in the day for me . . . and let's face it, many days "me" was at the top of my list. As I now contemplate my need "back in the day" for what is commonly referred to as "me time"—that quiet and time I so longed for—I find divine irony in the truth that what I actually … [Read more...]
I Don’t Want To Go To Church
It was pouring down rain and I did not want to go to church. I mean hey, we can watch church online now. Why in the world would we slosh through rain and distant parking lots, arrive cold, wet and soggy to hear a sermon we could hear cuddled on the couch while sipping something warm? The worship center was sparse, and I internally snickered and thought, I was not the only one with the whole “warm snuggled up on the couch” idea this morning. I … [Read more...]
Jesus Found At Arkansas Funeral
As I walked into the church auditorium this morning, my heart was instantly seized with a wave of grief at the sight of three caskets. I wasn’t prepared for that, and though my head knew, seeing tangible evidence of the great loss began the next hours of weighty grief. A father’s casket nestled between two of his precious young daughters' caskets is a sight that moves quickly from your eyes to settle deep into your heart. Each casket had a … [Read more...]
Arkansas Hope and Rubble
My heart was pounding as I quickly laced up my shoes, shouting to my son that there was a tornado heading our way. My husband grabbed dirt bike helmets for our protection while my son stripped his bed and placed the mattress in the hallway. Out our west window, we could see a black sky and debris in the air. The voices on the television reported, “Tornado on the ground at 300 near Pinnacle Mountain.” That’s us. We would learn later that … [Read more...]
Arkansas Mourning and Hollywood Celebration
I am sitting on an airplane headed to L.A. to attend an event that is directly tied to my passion to speak into the lives of moms—a time of celebration. Oddly, my heart does not want to keep this commitment made months ago. Celebration seems frivolous at this moment. My heart wants to retreat back to Arkansas, the state I called home for eight years, because there is mourning there. Why would I choose mourning over celebration? [Tweet … [Read more...]
I’m back!!!
And I am grateful for every amazing moment I have spent with the Lord and my family since January! Obedience is a wonderful thing, I stepped away because God indicated I should and though I was not sure for how long when I did step away, I am sure that now is the time to start sharing life again! We have some MAJOR changes going on in our personal lives and in my mom ministry life as well. My youngest is graduating from High School in May, … [Read more...]
Suffering? Need Help?
Friends, I am in a season that is leaving me reeling...and on my knees. Family members with serious health issues that have had me away from home, an unexpected death in our family that has led to heartache and hard decisions. Each heart crushing need could be a series of blog posts that would leave my keyboard salty from the splash of tears. But God has not released me to share...after these happenings are not my life...but the fragile … [Read more...]
Christian Zombies, Who Knew
OK, sit down a minute. Yes, I do watch Walking Dead with my son. Don't judge me. Call me crazy but it is a way to connect with him around something that intrigues him. And yes I do look away when they have one of those gross scenes...even he thinks at times they are over the top. We even when to see that zombie love story movie together when it came out. Which actually led to some pretty cool conversations. I am telling you moms...you … [Read more...]
