No-Rules, Kid-Friendly Summer

Yes, I just wrote that out loud : no-rules summer!  Call me crazy . . . or call me old and wise, but I do think I am on to something here! Every home needs rules to run smoothly, I get that, but come on . . . don’t you remember the thrill of summer when you were a kid? I sure do. I remember that giddy feeling of not having to study for three whole months and the promise of no schedules. (Yeah, remember when summer break was from Memorial … [Read more...]

Meet Stephen Kendrick – Sharing About Adoption

Enthusiasm, encouragement and oozing Jesus' love, that is how I would describe Stephen Kendrick! Check out my recent video interview with him where he shares how he and his wife Jill made the decision to adopt and how God was with them every step of the way. Amazing story - amazing family. Soon I will share another video interview where we hear from Alex and an exciting new movie project he is a part of ... … [Read more...]

Suffering? Need Help?

Friends, I am in a season that is leaving me reeling...and on my knees. Family members with serious health issues that have had me away from home, an unexpected death in our family that has led to heartache and hard decisions. Each heart crushing need could be a series of blog posts that would leave my keyboard salty from the splash of tears. But God has not released me to share...after these happenings are not my life...but the fragile … [Read more...]

Courageous A Must See

The movie Courageous is life changing - take it from me, take it from the over 1,000,000 people who saw it last weekend who made it the #1 movie in America....even though it is showing in 1/2 of the theaters the big Hollywood movies opened up in last week. My husband and I loved it, our 15 year old son loved it and our 18 year old daughter loved it. My daughter "forced" a big group of college friends to spend money (yes, poor struggling … [Read more...]

Is Your Child Overwhelmed?

In today's competitive society adults are sometimes overwhelmed, unfortunately so are our children. Sometimes just getting daily school work done can leave children feeling stressed out because instead of doing their best they are striving to measure up to the kid sitting in the desk next to them. I remember when my son started the fourth grade I just knew something was up. I couldn’t quite place my finger on it, but I could see that he wasn’t … [Read more...]

Pinch Me

Ok, so I have been avoiding writing this post because it seems too braggy...name droppy (are those even words?) but here I go. First, let me tell you why I go here...because God did it, not me! Five years ago I was living in West Virginia, as that was hubby's latest assignment from corporate America, and I was distraught. You see, I didn't want to be there, I didn't want my husband to be married to his job and I didn't want my children to … [Read more...]

Family Reunion

Time marches on. For me that was easily and eerily obvious this past weekend when I gathered with extended family at a family reunion. How in the world can "cute little Jackson" be the father of an 18 month old? It literally blew my mind to see him chasing that little guy around the yard. Him a father...really? Wasn't it just a couple years ago that he was bragging about finally being able to drive? Obviously it was more than a couple years … [Read more...]

Loss, Love and a Sweet Little Girl

I just got back from a funeral. Death stinks. Thankfully, for “Uncle Ick” (as my children have always referred to him) death means the ushering in of eternal life, freedom from pain and discarding the cane he has had to walk with for two decades due to a debilitating injury. But for those of us left behind…the fact remains, death stinks. Looking into the eyes of his wife of 29 years, (my hubby’s sister) and seeing pain, loss, … [Read more...]
