No Perfect Moms
There are no perfect moms and certainly as a woman who wrote a book titled Be The Mom I hope anyone who sees that book will inquire further and learn that my heart behind the book is simply to exhort moms to step into their God given role as a mom with a quiet resolve to do so with intentionality and purpose. As C.S. Lewis said, "The homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only, and that is to support the … [Read more...]
Doing Laundry For Fun!
In Be The Mom I talk about doing chores together as a family and trying to make even chores an opportunity to bond and build relational equity with your children. I suggest that it is wise to make doing things around the house more about the relationship and character building and less about perfect chore completion. With repetition and effort there is continuous improvement in children. I know sometimes it is tough moms cause we could get … [Read more...]

Mom Gut Check
“In a minute” she shot out in frustration never taking her eyes off of the iphone as she texted rapid fire. In front of her stood a little girl, I watched the little face contort as she hesitated and thoughtfully pleaded at her mother, with her heart...she then gave a little shake of her head and went back to her skipping in place, then stooped down to pick up a stick. My walking in the park propelled me forward and the scene playing out … [Read more...]
Pushing Jesus Out Of The Way
Don't let the ordinary seem so important that it pushes Jesus out of the way. That’ll make you stop and think, huh? That is what greets me daily from the front of my refrigerator. I heard that phrase about a dozen years ago, put it on a piece of paper and have attempted to hold it in my heart daily since then. That tattered piece of paper has been moved from fridge to fridge as we’ve traveled across three states. Obviously this is a life … [Read more...]
Tween Help
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with an amazing mother daughter team who is burdened to help moms know how to speak into the lives of their tweens. In this digital age you better believe the culture is coming after your tweens, marketers are spending some $43 billion to influence your tween. As a result the definition of a tween is getting younger and younger. A phenomenon known as "age compression" is occurring whereby what used … [Read more...]
Letters of Love
I had planned to write a post today about something God was teaching me. Instead I chose to answer some emails and comments that have come in from moms who have read my book or listened to my interviews on the radio. God is stirring in many mom hearts and that leaves me in awe of Him and His divine purposes. God is great, God is good and I thank Him. Have a blessed weekend friends. … [Read more...]

I am beyond honored to be a guest blogger over at Secret Keeper Girl the ministry of Dannah Gresh...one of my most favorite people of all time! I shared long ago why Dannah is a favorite - she made time for my daughter a few years ago when we met her at one of her events. Isn't it just like God to use our children to draw us into a relationship with another Godly woman. Dannah Gresh is the real deal people and if you have daughters you … [Read more...]
Safely Ignored
Alone in a crowd. Have you been there? I go there. Far too often. The bashful ten year old girl. She is still such a part of me. Quiet observation is so much easier. Safely hidden. Less messy. Eyes lifted. Disobedient. Silent whisper. Salt and light requires bravery. Holy boldness. No spirit of fear. Power. Love. Self-control. He taught us to reach out in love. It’s not about me. Or my … [Read more...]
