Yes, I just wrote that out loud : no-rules summer! Call me crazy . . . or call me old and wise, but I do think I am on to something here! Every home needs rules to run smoothly, I get that, but come on . . . don’t you remember the thrill of summer when you were a kid? I sure do. I remember that giddy feeling of not having to study for three whole months and the promise of no schedules. (Yeah, remember when summer break was from Memorial … [Read more...]

Help For The Busy Mom
I have noticed we moms have a tendency to compare our "busyness schedules" when we meet up and greet each other! Being a busy mom should not be worn as a badge of honor; it should be an indicator that we may just need to slow down. I know that of which I speak . . . because I am, at times, a busy mom. However, when the busy word slips through my lips it also triggers a "warning signal" of sorts. I admit that when my momlife is filled with … [Read more...]
Happy Memorial Day!
Danger to Children’s Growth
The other day my husband was talking about a leadership principal that involves the term analysis paralysis, and my ears perked up. When I asked him to explain further, he said leaders have to know when to take action, “It’s all about not over thinking things, it is ok to make mistakes because you will learn from them.” So that got me to thinking . . . if multimillion-dollar business leaders know that doing something and making mistakes leads … [Read more...]
Fear of Friendship
Friendship can be hard. The knowing and the being known by another human being requires such bravery and vulnerability. Remember when we were little ones and there was no fear attached to friendship. We simply embraced and curiously explored friendship—always giving our best and believing the best. Then with years and experiences came the doubts. Doubts about her . . . doubts about me. It is so hard to believe the possibility of the … [Read more...]

Hollywood Sexist ‘Moms’ Night Out’ Fail!
It is no secret that I am a big fan of the movie Moms' Night Out. I am a fan mainly because the movie depicts the reality of what it is like to be a mom who is intentionally engaged in motherhood. I am also a fan of Moms' Night Out because a group of moms rally around a single mom to support and encourage her. Moms' Night Out resonates with moms—they are telling me that by the hundreds, and I am seeing proof of that all over social media! … [Read more...]
I Don’t Want To Go To Church
It was pouring down rain and I did not want to go to church. I mean hey, we can watch church online now. Why in the world would we slosh through rain and distant parking lots, arrive cold, wet and soggy to hear a sermon we could hear cuddled on the couch while sipping something warm? The worship center was sparse, and I internally snickered and thought, I was not the only one with the whole “warm snuggled up on the couch” idea this morning. I … [Read more...]
Meeting the Stars at the ‘Moms’ Night Out’ Premiere
Robert Amaya has been a joy every time I have hung out with him, and this time I got to meet his beautiful and gracious wife! Robert always encourages me! He is warm, kind and others focused—you just want him to be your friend! Patricia Heaton was radiant and soft, bright-eyed, and had a lively engaging confidence and—daggum—she is gorgeous! I thanked her for making the movie and expressed the importance of it for moms, and she received my … [Read more...]
