Mom Missing In Action

Today is a fantastical, amazing, unbelievable day in the life of this "mom first" yet ministry minded mom! The new MomLife Today was finally launched today. It has been a long time coming. My mornings have been filled with extended time with the Lord to make it through the last several weeks. Various personal matters have demanded lots of attention and every morsel of time I have had to spend towards ministry has been poured into furthering … [Read more...]

Fortune Cookie Predicts Doom

Building relationship with your kids makes for great fun together when they are teens. I don't get people when they talk about how awful the teen years are because although those years have challenges my experience has been they are the opposite of awful. When you have come alongside  your kids consistently, taught them the truth of who God is, who the enemy of God is and how they walk through life with a target on their back the teen years … [Read more...]

Be A Mentor, Find A Mentor

It can be awkward and uncomfortable at first...but a mentoring relationship is something you NEED to pursue. And hey - your seatbelt was awkward and uncomfortable but you got used to that! So buckle up and make mentoring happen in YOUR life! Do you have that “older woman” who touches your life deeply, without much fan fare or notice to the rest of the world? I remember her well; her name was Connie. She was the “older women” in our women’s … [Read more...]

Ugly No Haired Baby Lie

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse...it did. Way worse. In recent years I have become increasingly frustrated over society's desire to grow our children up too quickly. We want our six year olds to look like they are twelve, we want our twelve year olds to look like they are eighteen. What is it with this overwhelming trend to push  kids towards looking and acting older than they really are. I do not get it. It concerns me … [Read more...]

How To Help Kids Remember!

There are so many things we as moms want to do to help our children thrive in life! I do realize that trying to do them all can make every stinkin one of us go crazy because there simply are not enough hours in the day! So, right now, let me absolve you of all the "Oh my goodness I cannot do it all!" guilt running through your head. Because you know what? You are right you CANNOT do it all. So, you just have to decide what is right for you … [Read more...]

Embracing Menopausal Weight Gain

I just watched some ridiculous commercial discussing how awful it is to experience menopausal weight gain and how I can take some drugs to fight against it. Decision made...I am going to punch menopausal weight gain in the face and just embrace it. I mean really – why are women so daggum entranced by the desire to look young at all cost? I vote we all look our age and recognize the human body changes and that is N-A-T-U-R-A-L! A teenage … [Read more...]

Encouragement Cafe Chat

More than a year ago I "met" Luann Prater by phone and we shared our hearts on life, where God had us and what the big dreams were He had placed in our hearts. Imagine my surprise when I found out she would be coming to Little Rock a few weeks ago to meet up with Suzie Eller, (my now new friend) and that they wanted to sit and chat with me on their radio program Encouragement Cafe. We enjoyed dinner together the night before, where there … [Read more...]

I Cannot Birth This Baby!

Interesting that during my pregnancy over 20 years ago I constantly read the book What To Expect When You Are Expecting and now that I am talking into the lives of moms I was asked by them to write a post on child birth! I really was connected to that book, I even mention it in Be The Mom! They have a website, What To Expect, and they send me an email several months back and say, "Hey, will you write us a guest post?" And I answer back, … [Read more...]

Social Media Sucks

The humility right out of me. When I use social media to encourage and connect it is grand. When I use social media to juke and jive and work hard to “get noticed” and hustle to make people find me or “like” me it sucks the humility right out of me and reveals my sinfulness. The pattern of this social media world is to see and be seen, have others hashtag you, quote you, friend you, follow you, notice you, tell others about … [Read more...]
